Browser

Browsers

A Browser is what searches up what you want to find out about. Examples of search engines are Google, Safari, Firefox and Opera. You can look up just about everything on these. You can look up Websites and videos and the browser will come up with a ton of different websites in less than a second. A Browser is not the internet. It is just a tool used to use the internet. Without a Browser you wouldn't be able to look at anything. Even this very site.

ISP

ISP

An ISP stands for Internet Service Provider. TSP is very different to TCP. Because without your ISP you won't be able to use any Browsers. For example if you wanted to look up something on the internet but you have none you'd probably call someone from one of the internet providers above. They would come round to your house and put arouter in, connect and then they'll be done. Some of the Internet Providers are on the image above. My ISP is Vodafone. Everything online like multiplayer games need and ISP.

User

User

A user is someone who uses the World Wide Web. A user can upload videos, images and lots of other stuff. But the user can't control who sees what they put on the world wide web.

TCP

TCP

TCP stands for Transmission Control Protocal. A TCP is the computer version of the guy that has a checklist and is making sure everything gets through to you. Say you want to look at your Facebook account. Your request will got to Facebook's server and then Facebook will send back some Packets. Say Facebook sent back 6 Packets. If all the packets were ready to be sent through to your device the TCP will give it the all clear and it will go through. But if Packet 4 and 5 weren't there the TCP won't let the packets go through to your device until they're all there.

World Wide Web

World Wide Web

The World Wide Web or WWW is the where all the search data is stored. There are lots of scammers on the world wide web. People use the world wide web to target people that don't know lots about computers and get their money. The world wide web was invented by Tim Berners-Lee.

Webpage

Web Page

A web page is a website like E2learn and Neocities that has games or information and might have links to other web pages There are lots of web Pages that are made to scam people.Tim Berners-Lee was the person who made the first webpage on the world wide web.

Digital Devices

Digital Device

A digital device is a device that uses the internet. The digital device in the image above is an ipad. Digital Devices are used by a user to look up stuff on the world wide web.

Modem

Modem

If you want to look at a website a modem sends data in packets through underground copper wires to an internet hub which will either send it back or send it somewhere else. Then it will eventually be able to see your website. This all happens in under a second. Below is a video explaining it. A modem is a black box that connects to your ISP without a router you can't use a modem.

Web Server

Web Server

A webserver is a server is a program that stores all the websites. Each website has an IP adress which is what the computer searchs for to get the webpage you want to view ready to view.

Web Hosting

Web Hosting

Web Hosting is where a server where your data is stored by a user or at least able to be used by a user.

Network

Network

A Internet Network or IAN gives you acess to information anywhere at any time as long as you are using a device that can connect to the internet and that you are connected.

Router

Router

A router is on the boundary of a network and it connects you to other networks. For a Modem to work you need a router or you can’t connect to the wifi.

Packets

Packets

Packets are what a server sends your information in. Say you want to look at a youtube video. Your request will be sent the youtube servers and the youtube servers will send back a your data in lots of little Packets. It could send back 10 or 10,000 Packets. Then the TSP will look over it and make sure verything is okay like it said in the TSP.

Fiber Optic Cables

Fiber Optic Cables

Fiber Optic Cables or Optical Fiber Cables. Fiber Optic Cables are made to carry light.
